December 2010

• Union Home Minister P Chidambaram launched a certificate programme on Anti Human Trafficking on December 10 . This certificate programme is a first of its kind in the country.
• Renowned spiritual leader and founder of Art of Living Foundation Sri Sri Ravi Shankar delivered a special lecture title, 'Human Values: A necessity for sustainable development', on December 1.

November 2010

• IGNOU celebrated 25^th Foundation Day on 19^th November 2010. Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit was the chief guest on the occasion. Foundation Day lecture was delivered by Rajya Sabha MP Oscar Fernandes.

October 2010

• IGNOU honours all former Vice Chancellors and Mr. K.C. Pant, former Union Education Minister, at a special silver jubilee felicitation function on October 1

• IGNOU announces first-of-its-kind Culinary Institute
• On-Campus students celebrate Teachers' Day on September 5

• IGNOU launches Regional Institute of Vocational Education and Training (RIVET)
• IGNOU, Goethe Institut launch Diploma in Teaching German as a Foreign Language

MAY 2010

• Film Festival on Disability is organised.
• 308 army men receive Associate Degrees, Diplomas

APRIL 2010

• The Dalai Lama delivers the 3rd Mother Teresa Memorial Lecture to mark the Mother's 100th birth anniversary.
• Actor–activist Nandita Das delivers a lecture on “Identity and the Notion of the Other” as part of Silver Jubilee Celebrations.
• Prof MS Swaminathan delivers a lecture titled 'Science and Sustainable Food Security.'

MARCH 2010

• 1,33,628 learners received Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates and 66 meritorious students were honored with gold medals at the 21st Convocation organised at the Delhi Headquarters and 43 Regional Centres.

FEBRUARY 2010

• IGNOU adds six new Gyan Vani FM Radio Stations in addition to the 31 Radio Stations the University already operates.

JANUARY 2010

• With over 30 Lakh students, IGNOU achieves the status of world's largest university by UNESCO.
• IGNOU and the M.S Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) team up to start 'Fish for All' Research and Training Centre at tsunami-hit Poompuhar.
• A record number of 6.4 lakh students enroll with IGNOU in 2009–2010.
• IGNOU and the World Wide Fund launch a new course in environment law.
• IGNOU decides to provide education to all the prisoners in the country free of cost.
